Meet Your Coach

Ashley Bishop —

World Champion & FEI Grand Prix Competitor

Ashley Bishop is an Equestrian Canada / NCCP Certified Competition Coach and EC Certified Instructor of Beginners based out of Cointreau Stables near Daysland, Alberta. With an exceptional breadth of experience spanning multiple disciplines, international competition, and coach development, Ashley brings a rare combination of elite horsemanship and dedicated mentorship to every rider she works with.

Ashley spent her formative years competing in Hunter/Jumpers on the A circuit, earning multiple championships before expanding her competitive focus. After having children, she transitioned to dressage full time and has since risen to the FEI level, competing internationally on her Grand Prix horse. Her most recent highlight was winning Reserve Supreme Champion at the Andalusian World Cup in Las Vegas — a premier world-class event drawing top competitors internationally. Ashley is also an internationally ranked Working Equitation competitor, having placed 4th in the world at her level.

Beyond competing, Ashley is deeply committed to the development of coaches and riders at every stage. She serves as a Coach Mentor, EC Rider Level Evaluator, and Green Certificate Evaluator — roles that place her at the forefront of equestrian education in Canada. She is a Rookie Rider Facilitator and holds licences as both a Provincial Hunter Judge and a Working Equitation Judge. Ashley also holds a Bachelor of Business Management and a Community Service Learning Certificate from the University of Alberta. Her dedication has been recognized with a Coach of the Year Award, and her students compete and excel at prestigious venues including Spruce Meadows and Alberta Dressage Provincials.

Yes! You're welcome to bring your own horse to lessons, provided they have a recent Coggins test, a 5-way vaccination, are healthy, and you follow our biosecurity measures. If you don't have a horse, Cointreau Stables has school horses available, and helmets can also be provided.
Wear comfortable, close-fitting pants (jeans work for your first lesson), and closed-toe boots with a small heel if you have them. A helmet is required — we can provide one if needed. Dress for Alberta weather!
